The 4 Gbps Fibre Channel, LVD SCSI, and 3 Gbps SAS attachment provide increased capacity and performance alongside the 2U form factor with 24 data cartridge slots. When utilizing the Ultrium 4, native data capacities of up to 19.2 TB (38.4 with 2:1 compression) are achived with 24 data cartridge slots. With the Ultrium 3, native physical capacities up to 19.2 TB (38.4 with 2:1 compression) and the use of LTO Ultrium 3 Tape Drive allows for a native data rate up to 80 Mbps.

The IBM 7206 Model 336 External DDS Gen 5 (DAT72) Tape Drive is a cost-effective storage solution using popular DDS tape technology.
